This gas-fired 35 MW combined cycle power plant is the first power plant of this type in Lithuania. The advanced and efficient technology of the plant allows reducing heat production costs and will decrease the emission level. Unique was delivery of the hearth of the plant - the gas turbine with the generator - to Panevėžys and their unloading. Transportation of the cargo totalling 250 tons required special preparation. Due to the oversized dimensions of the cargo some traffic signs had to be temporarily removed, high voltage electric wires were to be disconnected and then reconnected, traffic was stopped. The cargo was unloaded using a 500-ton crane.
